“My suggestion to save the world is to start at home and love those closest and nearest to you and teach them the value of our planet and then make the changes, small and big, to protect this place we call home.”

In 2010, a dilapidated 3-bedroom sea cottage was abandoned; it was a ‘blight property’ – run down with open walls, roof and dangerous conditions, flooded by Hurricanes Irene and Sandy. It was a public hazard and eyesore. Built in the 1930’s, most new owners would build a grander mega-home. This beach home has since been renovated and transformed using solar, geothermal and smart home automation allowing it to run independently from the grid if needed. Partners included Encon, Solar City, Tesla Energy and TecKnow.

This project is arguably the First Solar Smart Living Ecosystem in South West Connecticut, tied into 3 electric vehicles and 100% wireless technology. There is no use of fossil fuels by the homeowner ‘for years’. Its Solar / Tesla battery installation provides years of ROI savings.

The owner and her teams spend time and ‘energy’ helping others in the community to see and understand the benefits of ‘the new revolution in home sustainability’ without a sales pitch. Several showings for realtors, builders and state officials have been held and there are exclusive opportunities to rent the home by the owner.
